Volunteer for the FIRST Tech Challenge (Great for individuals)

FIRST Tech challenge teams (grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge. Small robotics tournaments serving the students in and around the Colton community will be participating in four competitions. Volunteers will be needed for the following roles: referee, field tech advisor, field manager, field reset, scorekeeper, queuer, robot inspector, and emcee. No prior experience is necessary but some roles do require advanced training.

Volunteer with the Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation! (Good for individuals or small groups)

On the third Saturday of every month Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation needs volunteers to help clean the cattery including cleaning litter boxes, washing walls in each room, mopping floors, and cleaning kitten cages. At the end of the day (and in between chores) you get to pet cats!

Help Students Figure Out Financial Aid! Volunteers Needed! (great for individuals looking for 20 volunteers)

When: February 1 and 2, 2017
Where: Ontario-Montclair School District

Applying for financial aid can be very intimidating. The goal of the Cash 4 College Workshops is to guide high school seniors and their families through the process of completing their FAFSA or Dream Act Application for financial aid. The workshops will take place in computer labs, libraries, and classrooms. Each family will have access to one computer to complete their application. Volunteers will be needed to work with at least five families to assist them step by step through the process. Volunteers will have support from financial aid advisers and financial experts.

Volunteers will:
-Be trained on different financial aid and how to facilitate filling out the applications
-Assist at least five families during one session step by step through the application process
-Assist in setting up computers for the application process
-Bring themselves and their trained brain
-Use any Spanish skills possessed (Bilingual volunteers needed)
-Answer general financial aid questions if volunteer is a Financial Aid Expert (Background in Finances)
-Be provided snacks and beverages throughout the workshop

Volunteers must attend a 1-hour training at Inland Empire United Way prior to volunteering.

The women love lotion, shower gel, perfume, and costume jewelry. The men like snacks like popcorn and mini candy bars, also cologne.

Volunteer for the Redlands Salvation Army Cold-Weather Shelter (Great for individuals & small groups)
